We need more more ideas like this centered around physical interaction with our digital selves…

Tableau is at the Saint Étienne International Design Biennale in the “Tomorrow is Today” exhibition, along with the proximeter.

I’m developing these both for production next year. Drop me a line if you’re interested.

Sudan Skyscraper by Hugon Kowalski

“…The skyscraper (sic) taps into (an) underground lake and brings it to the surface for distribution. In addition to housing the water pumps and treatment facility, however, the building also has a hospital, school and a food storage center, centralizing many life-bringing and saving services into one vital tower…”

Ingenious design and engineering prowess…

“…r2b2 is a pedal powered kitchen tool by German designer Christoph Thetard. designed for his final year project at Bauhaus Weimar, the project aimed to examine the amount of electricity used for common household tools. ather than design a band-aid solution Thetard chose to completely redevelop these tools using green power. Users pedal a fly-wheel which creates mechanical energy that can then power common kitchen tools like a coffee grinder, hand blender and food processor…”

Babiy Yar Memorial in Kiev / Kokkugia

This project is part of Kokkugia’s ongoing research into Behavioral Design Methodologies. These methodologies operate through Multi-Agent algorithms to generate a landscape with a differentiated field of intensities that culminates in an intense aggregation – the inverted monument. The non-linear interaction of the agents navigate a field of varying charge, negotiating between their own swarm logic and a field of external influences. The project is concerned both with the emergence of figure from a field as well as the dissolution of the figure into abstraction. The space of remembrance within the inverted monument is cast from bronze and generated through the interaction of agent-based components. At a local level the component has no base state, but instead adapts to its conditions. Consequently while local moments of periodicity may occur, its constant shifting of state triggered by local relationships resists a definitive reading of the component.
